Founded by Dr. Manfred Behr in 1955, for almost 60 years Behr Thermo-tronik has been at the forefront of automotive intelligent temperature control. By 1963 products are being manufactured for Opel, Fiat, Mercedes and Ford. In 1972 production was moved to the new plant in Kornwestheim which remains the company headquarters to this day. In 1974 the company started production of the famous radiator thermoswitches for the VW Golf MK1. In May of 2013 the massive and innovative automotive business Mahle increased it’s shareholding in the Behr Thermo-tronic company to 51% galvanising the good name of Behr.
